When first founded, the Partners in Mission (PIM) Board of Directors met four times per year. In 1976 the number of meetings was reduced to three per year, and in 1980 the number was further reduced to two per year. There was only one meeting in 1987. The meeting scheduled for April 28-29, 1978, was canceled, and therefore only an agenda for that meeting exists. The records consist of loose-leaf printed materials from each PIM Board of Directors meeting. Except for the first folder in box 1, which contains a reproduced copy of an anecdotal history of PIM and a brief summary of each Board meeting, each folder contains a typewritten copy of the protocol minutes, a typewritten copy of the agenda, and any accompanying appendices or exhibits needed for the meeting. The records are primarily original copies, but there are some reproduced agendas. Some of the reproduced material is of poor copy quality and difficult to read. Most agendas have summaries of staff reports, financial and budgetary information for mission projects and PIM operating costs, and any additional information needed to address specific issues at each particular meeting. Additional items included in particular agendas are, among others, PIM goals and objectives, staff job descriptions, topical papers on mission work, correspondence regarding project proposals, completed project proposal forms, correspondence regarding particular projects, and minutes from other board meetings of organizations with a relation to PIM. Some agendas also contain project reviews and progress reports, but these do not appear consistently in each agenda. Several of the year-end meetings have project progress reports. The titles on the files folders change, starting with the September 1982 meeting, to reflect PIM's official consideration as the mission arm of the Association for Evangelical Lutheran Churches (AELC). The records are arranged chronologically and original folder order was retained.
